Miami loses Allen Hurns to injury vs. Wake Forest, possibly Tyriq McCord too

After a couple of key players went down last week against UNC, Miami had two more starters suffer injuries on Saturday.

Injuries are beginning to pile up for the Miami Hurricanes. During Saturday's game against Wake Forest, the Canes saw leading wide receiver Allen Hurns and linebacker Tyriq McCord go down with injuries in the first half.

Hurns, a senior with 26 receptions, 481 yards and two touchdowns this season, was diagnosed with a left hip pointer. After receiving some attention from Miami’s training staff, Hurns began riding a stationary bike on the sideline with ice wrapped against his hip. It is unclear if he will be able to return to the game.

McCord headed to the locker room with the training staff but returned to the sidelines shortly after. It was not immediately reported what kind of injury he suffered. The sophomore linebacker does a little bit of everything for the Hurricanes; he’s the only player in college football to record two interceptions, force two fumbles, recover a fumble and sack the quarterback. It is also unclear if he will return to the game.

Injuries may derail any chance the Hurricanes have at running the table. In addition to Hurns and McCord being banged up, a handful of players, including Duke Johnson, were hurt in their win over North Carolina last Thursday.
