You have seen all these things as of right now, thanks to ACC football. Wake Forest’s punter heard a whistle, assumed it was an official’s signal, and halted. Miami players realized the play hadn’t been officially blown dead and grabbed him, resulting in (in their minds) a safety. The authorities wisely recognized what had happened and explained the whole thing to Al Golden, and that’s that.
Somehow, despite all this silliness, everyone had the right idea. Except for whoever blew that whistle. That individual should not be hard to find.
