Florida teasing offensive changes for Georgia game

One of the worst offenses in the SEC is hoping to perform better against one of the worst defenses in the conference.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Florida and Georgia square off in a rivalry matchup with huge SEC East implications this weekend, and the Gators are hoping to change up their offensive gameplan in order to try and outscore the prolific Bulldog offense.

The meaning of the word "simple" seems to be lost there, but it's easy to see why the change is needed — the Gators haven't exactly been an offensive dynamo this season. They rank 12th in the SEC in scoring offense (21.1 points per game, above just Arkansas and Kentucky), rushing offense and passing offense, and dead last in the conference in total offense (336.9 yards per game). That last figure is good for 110th in the country, behind the likes of Idaho and Central Michigan.

They will be facing a Georgia defense that is giving up a conference-high 33.3 points per game, so maybe the Gators and Will Muschamp figure simpler means more efficient. In his past two games, Murphy has averaged 3.7 yards per passing attempt, and Florida as a team is averaging just 3.7 yards per rush.
