Early college football scores, Week 6: Alabama rolls, Florida State blows out Maryland

Recapping all of Saturday’s early games.

No. 1 Alabama 45, Georgia State 3

In a battle of arguably the nation's best FBS team against the worst, the Crimson Tide rolled all over Panthers. The final outcome could've been worse, but Nick Saban pulled his starters around halftime to subdue the damage. A.J. McCarron threw for 166 yards, four touchdowns and only let one pass hit the ground, completing 15 of his 16 pass attempts. As a team, the Crimson Tide carried the football 30 times for 180 yards.

No. 8 Florida State 63, No. 25 Maryland 0

Jameis Winston tore apart Maryland's defense, racking up five passing touchdowns and 417 yards of total offense. The score probably would've been even more lopsided if FSU didn't come out a bit sloppy in the first quarter. As a team, the Terps had just 234 yards of total offense and went just 2-for-15 on third downs.

If the loss wasn’t bad enough, Maryland’s starting quarterback, C.J. Brown, also left the game in the first half after taking a big shot to the chest. Here’s a recap of the game from our great Maryland blog, Testudo Times.

No. 20 Texas Tech 54, Kansas 16

The Jayhawks once led this game, 10-0. Then, inexplicably, Charlie Weis called for a fake punt while pinned deep in his own territory. The Red Raiders went on to score 54 unanswered points before KU added a touchdown in garbage time. Baker Mayfield threw for 368 yards.
