Former Auburn coach slams Condi Rice’s College Football Playoff inclusion

Former Auburn head coach Pat Dye expressed his disapproval of the reported addition of Condoleezza Rice to the impending College Football Playoff selection committee, saying her lack of experience on the field concerned him. Via Al.com.

“All she knows about football is what somebody told her,” Dye said. “Or what she read in a book, or what she saw on television. To understand football, you’ve got to play with your hand in the dirt.”

This comes off the heels of ESPN’s David Pollack saying on air that women should not be allowed on the selection committee.

Dye, who won six bowl games as Auburn’s head coach, apparently did not express concern about the male members of the selection committee who did not play collegiate football, such as former Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese or former sportswriter Steve Wieberg.
