Good news, everyone! College GameDay’s ubiquitous Washington State flags will be seen in the crowd this week, as they have no matter the show’s location every Saturday since 2003. Well, all right, that’s all for now—
Washington State flag streak to survive Washington’s College GameDay
The host of College GameDay assured people that if WSU fans show up bearing flags, they’ll be protected.

Wait, why wouldn’t it be?
That’s not important, the important thing is that people can bring their flags. Here, even Chris Fowler said so:
@coug123 @CollegeGameDay flag carriers will be protected if needed! It's a tradition. WSU flag(s) will be there.
— Chris Fowler (@cbfowler) October 8, 2013
Wait, “protected”? Where is GameDay this week, anyway?
Oh, it’s in Seattle for the Oregon-Washington game. So there’s that.
I didn’t know the Pac-12 got down like that. Fowler just made it seem like some Wazzu fans were getting threatened. Who threatens people at College GameDay?
If you read through the replies to Fowler’s tweet — which I don’t recommend, because (surprise!) it’s yet another outbreak of poopmouth on the Internet — you’ll see that this all basically stems from some radio dope offering a small bounty on WSU flags or something.
So this is some moron shock jock’s ploy for attention?
Appears so! CougCenter is advising WSU fans to not crash the proceedings, while neither the Oregon nor Washington SB Nation sites think giving a damn about WSU’s flag tradition is wise.
Hopefully talk of UW fans forcing the WSU flag off of ESPN Gameday is just that... talk. Gotta respect the tradition of the event.

The reality is that neither fanbase should really be caring about the other until about 47 days from now.

Huh.
So what have we learned?
That contrary to what sensationalist reports may glom onto, sports are rarely used to foment genuine ill will and that if nobody had said anything the flags would have gone up just like usual?
And?
And that it’s impossible to read Chris Fowler’s tweets in anything but Chris Fowler’s voice?
Annnnnd?
And that sports radio hosts are awful and they make sports worse for the rest of us?
Bingo. Good talk.
