Texas survived at Iowa State last week, but the pressure is still mounting on Mack Brown, who is tasked with beating the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday. The Longhorns suffered blowout losses to the Sooners in each of the last two seasons, and if that were to happen again, one Texas official says that would signify the end of Brown's tenure in Austin.

The anonymous official, who spoke to Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated:
“If it’s like the last couple years, the gig is up,” said a high-ranking Texas official of the Oklahoma game. “If [Brown] rallied and came back and won out, I still think there would be a possibility he’d still resign. I’m not sure he wants to work for another athletic director. My guess is this is his last season.”
Texas athletics director DeLoss Dodds recently announced his retirement, effective in August 2014.
Texas lost to the Sooners, 63-21, in last year’s meeting between the two, adding fuel to the notion that Brown is no longer the person who should be running the Longhorns program. He has already apologized in advance for the 66-17 defeat his team will suffer at the hands of Oklahoma this season. That last bit is a joke, but if a score like that were to materialize this weekend, it wouldn’t feel surprising.
