Georgia’s injury plague continues: Todd Gurley ‘doubtful’ vs. Missouri

A return to the field this weekend appears unlikely for Todd Gurley.

Scott Cunningham

Georgia head coach Mark Richt said Tuesday that “it’s doubtful” Todd Gurley will play against Missouri this week. Gurley suffered an ankle injury against LSU on Sept. 28 and was held out of the Bulldogs’ game against Tennessee.

Gurley is just one of several significant losses the Bulldogs have had to endure recently. In the Tennessee game alone, running back Keith Marshall and wide receiver Justin Scott-Wesley suffered season-ending ACL injuries. Georgia also lost receiver Michael Bennett to a knee injury in that game, and he won't be able to play against Missouri either.

Freshman J.J. Green got the bulk of the work in the absence of Gurley and Marshall against the Volunteers and looked good -- he ran for 129 yards on 17 carries. Prior to that game, he’d carried the ball just five times.

Georgia lost receiver Malcolm Mitchell for the season in Week 1, so the Bulldogs are heading into the Missouri game without three of their top four receivers and their top two running backs, assuming Gurley sits out once again.
