Texas A&M starter Kirby Ennis done for 2013 with torn ACL

The Aggies’ defense will have to replace one of its top interior linemen.

Texas A&M senior defensive tackle Kirby Ennis will miss the rest of the 2013 season with a torn ACL, head coach Kevin Sumlin announced Tuesday. Ennis suffered the injury during the Aggies' win over Arkansas on Sept. 28. After leaving the game initially, he briefly returned with a brace on his knee, and then exited the contest for good.

In his place, the Aggies will turn to true freshman Isaiah Golden, who had been getting reps prior to Ennis' injury. Golden has 11 tackles on the season, including two for loss.

Ennis ends his season with six tackles and a quarterback hurry. He stepped into a starting role last season and appeared in all 13 games, setting a career high with 24 tackles. Including this season, Ennis appeared in more than 40 games over the course of his Texas A&M career.

The Aggies rank No. 112 in yards allowed per play.
