Ohio State player says Buckeyes would ‘wipe the floor with’ Bama, FSU

Frustration mounts for the undefeated Buckeyes, who are on the outside looking in on the title picture.

Four undefeated BCS title challengers remain, with Alabama and Florida State seemingly on an unstoppable track to the championship game, leaving Baylor and Ohio State as the odd teams out.

“Well, I guess I’m a little biased, but I think we’d wipe the field with both of them,” the Buckeye wide receiver said. “We’re going to go ahead and handle our business and play our best game every week. We know that we just have to go out and execute. If we go out and execute for a full game, there’s nobody in the country that we feel can hang with us when we’re executing the way that we can.”

That’s Ohio State wide receiver Evan Spencer, giving bulletin board material to teams he will likely not play until next year, if the Buckeyes, Tide and Seminoles all find their way to the four-team playoff.

Spencer is the Buckeyes’ fourth-leading receiver this season, with 21 catches for 209 yards and three touchdowns.

New numbers for offensive S&P+ and defensive S&P+ happened to be released today, with only one unit between those three programs ranking outside of the top 10 nationally: Ohio State’s defense, which stands at No. 38, below 2-8 Virginia. The Buckeyes’ offense is impressive, ranked third in the nation, but it’s safe to say Ohio State would be heavy underdogs against either of these teams thanks to its inconsistent play on defense.
