Bret Bielema denies Arkansas player used racial slurs vs. Florida

Jonotthan Harrison was ejected from the Gators’ win, but says he was goaded with racial slurs.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema has denied claims made by a Florida player that racial slurs were made by Razorback defenders during the Gators’ 30-10 win earlier this season, via NFL.com.

Florida center Jonotthan Harrison was ejected from the game for shoving an official, but has since said he was called “every version of the N word known to man” by opposing players and was simply trying to explain what was going on to the referee.

In the above video, Harrison appeared to exchange words with Arkansas linebacker Jarrett Lake, and Bielema said he talked to Lake about the incident, who “categorically denied” that anything had happened.

Bielema further denied the allegation by citing the makeup of the Razorbacks’ defensive personnel, saying he doubts any of them would use such language.

“Actually, in the Florida game, all 11 of our defensive players were African-American. I have a hard time believing that anyone on our roster would say anything along those lines without getting noticed by our own guys,” he said. “I don’t see an issue there.”

Harrison, a redshirt senior, is a three-year starter for the Gators.
