Michigan State vs. Nebraska results: Sparty capitalizes on miscues, 41-28

Michigan State is nearly locked into the Big Ten Championship Game after going into Lincoln and dispatching the Huskers.

Michigan State took advantage of five Nebraska turnovers -- four of which came deep in Husker territory -- to outpace the Huskers with ease, 41-28.

Nebraska shot itself in the foot early and often in the game, but the Huskers were still within 27-21 in the fourth quarter before Sparty put the game away with two touchdowns, one of which came after a remarkably risky fake field goal.

The Spartans don’t officially have the Big Ten Legends Division in hand, but their magic number is one; only Minnesota has any chance to catch MSU, and the Gophers have a game with Wisconsin and a season-ender at Michigan State while the Spartans travel to Northwestern before the finale. So while the date with Ohio State in Indianapolis isn’t official, it probably will be very soon.

Box Score Hero: Jeremy Langford cemented his role as Michigan State's workhorse in the backfield with 32 rushes, 151 yards and three scores. Nebraska couldn't stop him down the stretch, and that meant the Spartans' lead remained safe.

Rankings Ramifications: Michigan State won’t fly up the rankings -- it’s No. 16 in the BCS -- with the glut of wins above it, but voters have got to take notice of this Big Ten team with only one loss on its resume (a dodgy one at that) and the nation’s best defense. A rise of two or three spots should be in order.

But Did They Cover? Michigan State was a 5.5-point favorite going into the game, so if any of the players were shaving points they’re clearly not very good at it.
