Midway through the second quarter against Baylor, Texas Tech tight end Jace Amaro caught a crossing route over the middle, his fourth catch of the day. Baylor defensive back Ahmad Dixon met him hard, burying his helmet into Amaro's chest and sending the Red Raiders' star right to the ground.

The Red Raiders’ star was helped off the field after a brutal hit from Ahmad Dixon.
Amaro lay on the ground for a while before getting up, and it looked as though he may have lost consciousness on the tough hit. Dixon was not called for targeting, although he did lead with his head on the hit against Amaro, striking him with the crown of his helmet.
Amaro has had a breakout year this season, coming into the game with 88 receptions for 1,102 yards and four touchdowns. He ranks third in the nation in receptions and fifth in receiving yards, and leads the conference in both categories.
