With the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Baylor Bears highlighting the Saturday night football slate, you just knew there would be points flying in high numbers. The two teams ranked 24th and first in the nation, respectively, in points per game and first and third in the country, respectively, in passing yards per game.
Hamtastic Baylor-Texas Tech first half has certainly been high-scoring
As expected, the Bears and Red Raiders have put up the points in their showdown on Saturday night.
The two teams traded three touchdowns apiece in the first quarter, and the scoring didn’t stop there. Baylor leads Texas Tech 35-27 at halftime, and the teams have combined for 612 yards of total offense -- 308 for the Bears, and 314 for the Red Raiders.
The two quarterbacks have certainly done their job -- Texas Tech’s Baker Mayfield has completed 23 of 40 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns while Baylor’s Bryce Petty is 11/23 for 227 yards and three scores -- but it’s been the wide receivers who have stolen the show.
Texas Tech tight end Jace Amaro caught the first two touchdowns of the game and Eric Ward has six catches for 73 yards and this incredible score.
Baylor’s Levi Norwood is having a breakout performance. With Tevin Reese out due to injury, Norwood has five receptions for 141 yards and two scores, plus this incredible punt return for a touchdown.
Reese, on the sideline, was very pleased by the Bears’ #TURNTUP performance.
With the two teams on a well-deserved break at halftime, we anxiously anticipate what should be an exciting second half of the game. Much more is at stake for the Bears -- a loss would knock them out of the BCS title hunt -- but don't tell that to Kliff Kingsbury's overachieving Texas Tech squad. Currently, the live over/under stands at 106.5 points.
