Baylor vs. Texas Tech reactions and highlights: Bears offense impresses again in shootout

Baylor puts the hurt on Texas Tech in a dominating win.

Baylor is right in the heart of their schedule, and many analysts are predicting they slip up on this stretch of four tough games. Through two, the Bears are still untouched, as they followed up a blowout win over Oklahoma with a dominating performance against the Texas Tech Red Raiders, defeating Kliff Kingsbury's squad 63-34.

After injuries to important skill players, Mark Seymour of Our Daily Bears liked what he saw from Baylor's replacement parts.

  • Moving to the offense, I can't really put into words how impressed I was tonight with the combination of Rashodrick Linwood and Devin Chafin. Before tonight, neither had started a game for Baylor in their brief careers. More than a few people, myself included, wondered if they could shoulder the load with Lache Seastrunkand Glasco Martin sidelined. They did that and more, combining for 40 carries for 288 yards and 3 TDs. Linwood's 188 yards is a season high by a Baylor back in 2013, and it was his first collegiate start ever. That's pretty incredible.

The Red Raiders’ season has taken a dark turn, but Seth C at Viva the Matadors told fans not to lose hope just yet.

You may not get immediate satisfaction from this. Kingsbury may not be able to turn things completely around next year or maybe even the year after that, but it’s going to happen. It’s going to happen because Kingsbury won’t be out-worked and he’s as bright a coach as there is in college football.

Texas Tech looked upset-minded early in the game, scoring two straight touchdowns to jump out to a 14-0 lead. Baylor responded, and the two teams ended up trading three touchdowns apiece in the first quarter. Due to a missed extra-point attempt, Baylor held the 21-20 lead, but the margin would grow exponentially from that point on.

Baylor outscored Texas Tech 42-14 over the remainder of the game, taking advantage of five total Bryce Petty touchdown passes to cruise to the win.
