Both teams have lost twice in a row (with each team falling to Missouri), but it’s hard to argue the Bulldogs are in better position. Injuries have decimated their offensive skill players, and their most recent loss was to Vanderbilt, who was previously winless in conference play. Georgia will have star running back Todd Gurley back, but the defense remains a big question mark.
Luckily for them, Florida sports one of the worst offenses in the conference. The Gators average just over 21 points per game, and topped 30 just twice. They’ll shoot for that number later today against a Bulldog defense giving up 33.3 points per game.
The numbers
Rankings and records: Neither team is ranked, but both are receiving votes. Florida is 4-3 and 3-2 in SEC play, good for third in the East. Georgia is also 4-3 (3-2), which puts them at fourth. The Bulldogs hold a 48-40-2 lead in the all-time series, and have won the last two.
Vegas: Georgia is a 2.5-point favorite. The over/under has been set at 47. OddsShark has more.
Weather: Low 70s and showers.
Three names to know
Aaron Murray. The quarterback has struggled against Florida in the past, and will have to put up a career performance against one of the best secondaries in the country.
Todd Gurley. The star running back is back from injury, and should give the struggling (and hampered) Bulldog offense a huge boost.
Vernon Hargreaves III. Florida's secondary has been absolutely outstanding, and much of that can be credited to the play of the true freshman cornerback. Hargreaves has three interceptions and seven passes broken up on the year.
Two things at stake
For Georgia, a win would stop their complete spiral out of control after back-to-back SEC losses.
Florida has suffered two tough losses in a row, but a win here would put them right back in the SEC East race.
