Wisconsin vs. Iowa 2013 final score: Badgers take care of business, 28-9

The Badgers handled a punchless Iowa team with relative ease on Saturday.

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sport

The Wisconsin Badgers didn't have much trouble with the Iowa Hawkeyes, winning 28-9 in Iowa City on Saturday. Two touchdown passes from Joel Stave were enough to give the Badgers the win over the Hawkeyes, who have now gone seven straight quarters without scoring a touchdown.

Iowa actually got on the board first via two Mike Meyer field goals, but the Wisconsin was able to take the lead with less than two minutes left in the first half on a 44 yard touchdown pass from Stave to Jacob Pedersen. The Badgers would build that lead about halfway through the third quarter when Stave hit Jared Abbrederis for a 20 yard touchdown, but Abbrederis would leave the game with a chest injury after the play.

The Hawkeyes were able to make it a 14-9 game, but James White put the game on ice for the Badgers, scoring from 11 yards out to make it 21-9. He would add another touchdown with two minutes remaining for the icing on the cake.

Iowa lost starting quarterback Jake Rudock in the third quarter and backup C.J. Beathard was pretty dreadful in relief, going 2-8 for 23 yards and an interception on a pass deflected off an offensive lineman's helmet. To be fair, though, Rudock wasn't much better. It never felt like Iowa was capable of mounting a credible comeback

Box Score Hero:

White had 19 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns and was the Badgers' best weapon on a day where Melvin Gordon was kept in relative check.

Rankings Ramifications:

The Badgers came into the game ranked 24th in the BCS standings and should climb a little with the win.

But Did They Cover?

Wisconsin was a nine point favorite at kickoff, so they covered the spread.
