Tennessee vs. Missouri 2013 final score: Tigers bounce back with convincing win, 31-3

After a heartbreaking loss to South Carolina, Missouri proved its hot start was no fluke.

Missouri's defense got back on track after allowing a late comeback to Connor Shaw and South Carolina last week, forcing three turnovers in a dominating win over the Tennessee Volunteers, 31-3. It was the first time in 24 games that the Volunteers have not scored a touchdown.

Missouri struggled to find their footing early, but took the lead on Maty Mauk's nine-yard touchdown pass to Dorial Green-Beckham, who was able to navigate around a group of about seven Tennessee defenders on a screen play for the score.

The Tigers extended the lead to 17-0 on Mauk's 26-yard touchdown toss to L'Damian Washington, but Tennessee pulled it back with Michael Palardy's 51-yard field goal. Missouri was able to take an even bigger lead right before the half on Mauk's 40-yard touchdown throw to Marcus Lucas, making it 24-3 before the half.

Missouri scored first in the second half, when Russell Hansbrough ran 26 yards for a score.

Box Score Hero: Maty Mauk. The freshman quarterback completed 12 of 25 passes for 163 yards and three touchdowns while also running 13 times for 114 yards.

Rankings Ramifications: Missouri was ranked No. 9 in the BCS. If Miami loses to Florida State, the Tigers will likely move up a spot.

But Did They Cover? Missouri was an 11-point favorite, so yes.
