USC Trojans starting center Marcus Martin was carted off early in the first quarter of USC's rivalry game against the UCLA Bruins and will miss the rest of it after suffering a reported left knee injury. The entire USC team took a knee as Martin was down for several minutes in obvious pain.

The Trojans will continue their pursuit of the Victory Bell, but it will be with one less starter.


In a moment of good sportsmanship, at least one UCLA coach went over to offer Martin some words as he was leaving the field. Play resumed after several minutes.

— Greg Beacham (@gregbeacham) December 1, 2013 Martin, a 6'3, 310-pound junior from Crenshaw, California, was replaced by backup center Abe Markowitz, a senior walk-on in his sixth year of eligibility. This was Martin's first season at the center position, having played left guard each of the last two years.
