Oregon vs. Stanford betting trends: Vegas predicts Ducks, trends predict toss-up

Oregon is a big favorite over Stanford, but history says that isn’t necessarily in the Ducks’ favor.

Jonathan Ferrey

Stanford and Oregon play in the second marquee Thursday night matchup, with national title hopes and Pac-12 standings at stake in what has become an annual must-see matchup.

The line started with Oregon as a minus-9.5 point road favorite, but the line has now been moved to minus-10.5 (check for more trends at OddsShark.com). This is the second straight year the Ducks have been a double-digit favorite over the Cardinal -- in 2012, Oregon was an 18-point favorite and lost, 17-14. That game stayed under the total, but the seven games between the two schools before that all hit the over.

In their last 11 games against Oregon, Stanford is 3-8 against the spread. In their last 10 games overall, Oregon is 9-1 against the spread.

In the past eight meetings between the two schools, the points total has gone over seven times.

In their past six games as an underdog at home, Stanford is 5-1 straight-up and 6-0 against the spread. In their last 11 games as a road favorite, however, Oregon has covered the spread every time.

In their past 12 conference games, Oregon is 10-2 against the spread.
