Kansas State vs. Texas Tech results: KSU pummels No. 25 Red Raiders in Lubbock

Texas Tech continues its plunge down and out of the Top 25 with a thumping at the hands of visiting Kansas State and its powerful run game.

Kansas State came to Texas Tech’s house on Saturday and behaved like the rudest guest, lighting up the Red Raider defense on offense and forcing three turnovers in a shocking 49-26 victory, the Wildcats’ biggest margin of victory ever in Lubbock.

KSU jumped on Tech early in the game, taking a 35-10 lead to the half and keeping the Red Raiders at a safe distance the rest of the way through. Tech QB Davis Webb was chased after a 13-20, 78-yard day, and Baker Mayfield couldn't make up any of the difference—especially with this effort on a pick-six that put the game out of reach:

Box Score Hero: Give credit to KSU’s offensive line in this one, mashing holes in Tech’s defensive front all game long and allowing these rushing numbers for the Cats: 45 rushes, 291 yards and five touchdowns. That’s road grader material.

Rankings Ramifications: Texas Tech is pretty obviously out of the Top 25 and may not receive a single vote next week. KSU is certainly improved, but at only 6-4 the polls won’t come calling in any meaningful way.

But Did They Cover? Texas Tech was favored by 2.5 points. Um, it did not cover.

Next Week’s Schedule: Texas Tech finishes off its disastrous home stretch with... oh god, Baylor’s coming to town. Oh no. Meanwhile, Kansas State will host TCU.
