Silas Redd injury: USC tailback hurt right knee against Cal

Southern Cal’s starting tailback out of action for the second half of a blowout of the Golden Bears.

Southern Cal halfback Silas Redd suffered an apparent right knee injury in the Trojans' game against Cal on Saturday. The senior running back received treatment on the sideline, and came back from halftime in street clothes. The team has announced he is out for the remainder of the game:

Redd carried six times for 19 yards before leaving the game. He also caught a 12-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter. Backup Javorius Allen has been dominant in his absence, running six times for 135 yards and two touchdowns, including a 79-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. Allen also caught a 57-yard touchdown pass.

Redd has struggled with injuries throughout the season. He missed the Trojans’ first five games after tearing the meniscus in his left knee during spring practice. Redd has 76 carries for 351 yards this season, scoring just one rushing touchdown.
