BYU vs. Wisconsin final score: James White, Badgers cruise on the ground

James White put together his best game of the season as No. 24 Wisconsin outmuscled visiting BYU, 27-17.

Death, taxes, and Wisconsin’s dominance on the ground.

No. 24 Wisconsin welcomed BYU to Camp Randall, then promptly ran all over its guest in a 27-17 victory. Wisconsin punished the Cougars’ front seven with 229 yards on 45 rushes—more than five yards a pop.

The ground game wasn’t much kinder to BYU, who came into the game averaging nearly 260 rushing yards per game and only reached half that on the final drive against the Badgers, finishing with 39 rushes for 168 yards.

Box Score Hero: James White continued his stellar 2013 season with 20 rushes for 147 yards and two touchdowns. He added six catches for 47 yards and another score. White likely won’t catch Melvin Gordon III in yardage on the season, but barring injury he’ll sail past 1,000 yards for the first time since his freshman season in 2010.

Rankings Ramifications: Wisconsin is ranked No. 24 and probably going to move up by a spot or so, despite being clearly one of the best 15 teams in the nation this season. What polling gods did Gary Andersen anger?

But Did They Cover? Wisconsin came in as high as a 9.5-point favorite. That’s a cover.
