The No. 14 Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-1, 5-1 Big 12) scored four first-half touchdowns and cruised to a 42-6 win over Kansas (2-7, 0-6 Big 12) Saturday. The win keeps the Cowboys in the Big 12 title race, while Kansas suffered its 27th consecutive Big 12 loss, a streak now extending more than three years.

Okie State returned the opening kick for a touchdown and never looked back in an easy win over the hapless Jayhawks.
Oklahoma State's Justin Gilbert took the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, putting the Jayhawks in a hole from which they would never emerge. Six minutes later, after Kevin Peterson picked off a Jake Heaps pass in Kansas territory, Desmond Roland ran in a three-yard touchdown to double Oklahoma State's advantage.
Clint Chelf connected with Roland on a 19-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. He threw another touchdown pass in the final seconds before halftime, this one to Tracy Moore, to give the Cowboys a 28-0 halftime lead.
Kansas finally got on the scoreboard with a 40-yard field goal in the third quarter, but Chelf’s third touchdown pass of the night extended the Oklahoma State lead to 35-3 and effectively iced the game. Mike Gundy put in the second string for most of the fourth quarter.
Box Score Hero: The Cowboys were led by quarterback Clint Chelf, who accounted for 282 yards of total offense and threw for three touchdowns. Chelf completed barely more than half of his pass attempts, but did get 7.2 yards per attempt.
Rankings Ramifications: Oklahoma State, which entered ranked No. 14, could see a slight uptick in its poll position, but a win over Kansas won’t raise many eyebrows.
But Did They Cover? Oklahoma State went off as 31-point favorites over the Jayhawks, one of the day’s biggest favorites. It covered that massive spread.
