— John Henderson (@JohnHendersonDP) December 2, 2013 News broke Sunday that Dave Christensen would not return to Wyoming following a 27-35 record over five years with the program.
Stitt’s offense revolves around the Fly-Sweep play, brought to the public’s attention in the 2012 Orange Bowl by West Virginia.
Stitt’s best season came in 2004, when the Orediggers went 11-0, winning their first conference title in nearly 50 years, and saw quarterback Chad Friehauf throw for 4,646 yards and win the Harlon Hill Trophy (D-II’s equivalent of the Heisman).
Over 14 years with Mines, Stitt has a 98-60 career record, and has gained a reputation as one of the pre-eminent offensive minds in the country. Sam Houston State head coach Willie Fritz has also been rumored to be a candidate for the position.
