Tyler Johnstone injury: Oregon starting LT out of Alamo Bowl
The Ducks lost their starting left tackle to a right knee injury in the second quarter of the Alamo Bowl.
Johnstone appeared to injure his knee while attempting to recover a Marcus Mariota fumble. He fell to the ground and immediately grabbed at the kneecap area, throwing off his helmet in disgust. The Oregon training staff attended to Johnstone for a couple of minutes before finally helping him off the field. He was shown receiving treatment on his knee behind the bench and was later shown on crutches.
Everett Benyard, a senior reserve who appeared in all 12 of Oregon's games this season, replaced Johnston at left tackle.
Johnstone was the anchor for the Ducks’ offensive line this season. He was a Freshman All-American last year and received an honorable All-Pac-12 mention for his work along the line in 2013.
