Jimbo Fisher to make $4.1 million per season in new Florida State deal

The extension means Fisher will be in Tallahassee for at least the next five years.

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Jimbo Fisher and Florida State have agreed to a new contract extension that will pay around $4.1 million per year over five-to-seven years, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The new deal will bump him from his previous $2.75 million deal, and will make him one of the ten highest paid coaches in the country. Fisher was already the highest-paid coach in the ACC, but the new deal will also make his salary higher than Louisville’s Charlie Strong, who joins the conference next season.

After three years as Bobby Bowden’s offensive coordinator, Fisher took over the head coaching position in Tallahassee in 2010. The Seminoles have gone 43-10 during his four years with the program, with three appearances in the ACC Championship Game.

With a win over Duke in this year’s ACC Championship Game, Fisher’s top-ranked Seminoles would certainly make the national title game. Florida State has not won a national championship since 1999.
