Louisville will retain Clint Hurtt through investigation

Earlier in the week, Hurtt was served with a 10.1 violation from the NCAA for “unethical conduct” after allegedly misleading investigators. Louisville was first notified of the possible violations back in January once the NCAA began investigating Hurtt for his involvement with Nevin Shapiro.

Hurtt, who has coached the Cardinals’ defensive line since 2010, is also accused of sending 40 text messages to recruits, according to this report from ESPN.

“Clint is due his due process,” Jurich said. “I think that’s the only fair thing that we can do as a university. Clint’s side of the story is much different than the allegations are, so I think we wait the 90 days and see how it unfolds then.”

Until the NCAA makes a final ruling on Hurtt’s involvement with the University of Miami, he will continue to handle his day-to-day duties at Louisville as he normally would. If found guilty of committing the 10.1 violation, the Cardinals would be forced to replace Hurtt immediately.
