Hurtt on leave due to Miami allegations

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY SportsThe Nevin Shapiro scandal has apparently caught up with Louisville assistant Clint Hurtt, as he’s been put on administrative leave by the Cardinals, head coach Charlie Strong announced. Hurtt will not take part in spring practice or recruiting until he’s reinstated.
Hurtt, who received a potentially tricky 10.1 allegation for misleading investigators in the Miami case, was notified of possible violations in January. Although there was talk of him losing his job, Louisville appears to be giving him the benefit of the doubt here. The assistant coach will have the opportunity to prepare for his case and try to prove that he didn’t intentionally give the NCAA inaccurate information. Hurtt is also accused of sending 40 text messages to recruits that were not allowed at the time.

Hurtt, who has coached the Cardinals’ defensive line since 2010, is also accused of sending 40 text messages to recruits, according to this report from ESPN.
