It’s Spring, and Miranda’s in the Air. Utah State linebacker Jake Doughty was cited for buying beer for minors Wednesday. Doughty was picked up by cops in Southern Utah while on a spring break trip:
Doughty, 21, was boating at Sand Hollow State Park outside of St. George on Tuesday when rangers pulled up to the boat for an inspection and discovered two underage drinkers, according to a probable cause statement filed Wednesday in 5th District Court. The two females took breath tests that were positive for alcohol and said that Doughty and another person on the boat had purchased the alcohol for them, court documents state.
“Doughty stated that he had purchased the alcohol and supplied it to [the pair],” according to court documents. “Doughty stated that he was responsible for everything.”
Doughty led the Aggies with 109 tackles in 2012, and was widely considered one of the most important returning players in the Aggies’ first season as a member of the Mountain West.
“There’s Not Much to Do in Nebraska.” Cornhusker senior quarterback Taylor Martinez has developed a free iPod game in order to fight the crippling boredom that comes with living in Nebraska.
On the low-key nights in Lincoln, and there are many, the Nebraska quarterback might mess with the stock market or create iPhone apps.
His latest concoction is a free app called Follow the Pattern,“which he describes as a board game on your phone for competing against friends. The game slightly resembles the Simon” board game with blocks colored red, green, yellow and blue.
Martinez is studying film in preparation for 2013 when he isn’t reexamining what happened in the Huskers’ 70-31 loss to Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship Game. Martinez, a soon-to-be four-year starter at quarterback for Nebraska, gets one more shot at a conference title this fall.
