Here’s what’s happened in the college football universe on Wednesday.
Spring college football 2013: Injury bug bites Michigan, Ole Miss
Some key contributors suffered major injuries, and teams across the country are practicing with some pop.

Michigan
Linebacker Jake Ryan tore his ACL during practice on Tuesday. Maize n Brew is understandably upset about losing their team’s top defender, but Wolverines head coach Brady Hoke said this is just another thing the team will have to deal with.
Ole Miss
Defensive end C.J. Johnson broke his leg on Wednesday, and will miss the rest of the spring.
Texas
Linebacker Jordan Hicks was back at practice on Wednesday. According to Burnt Orange Nation and others, it sounds like the Longhorns are practicing with some urgency:
Another picture shows Quandre Diggs and Jaxon Shipley having quite a skirmish, with Shipley's helmet nearly knocked off. Being the best requires the best to compete against the best in practice and it looks like Texas is spending a lot of time doing that this spring. It's hard to say how much of a change that is from the past, but it is heartening.
Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish opened up spring practice on Wednesday, and cameras were there to document everything. Footage courtesy of Irish Illustrated.
Missouri
Quarterback James Franklin tells ESPN's Edward Aschoff that he's feeling 100 percent healthy for the first time in years. He described what it was like trying to compensate while throwing on an injured shoulder:
"It would hurt every time I would throw, but it wasn’t to the extent to where it would make it worse," he said. "I knew that in the back of my head, but I still let it affect my decision making because I was starting to doubt myself and thinking, ‘OK, when is it going to hurt?’ ‘I need to take some off of this [throw],’ or maybe, ‘Oh, I can’t make that throw because it hurts too much.’"
