Georgia Tech fans may have noticed a strange and new presence on Twitter over the past few weeks. Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson started tweeting back on Feb. 26, and said he's picking up Twitter as a way to control what people say about the program:
Social media strategist Paul Johnson on building your brand’s buzz
The Georgia Tech head coach wasn’t much of a fan of Twitter and social media before, but has stepped up his Twitter game recently to “control the message.”

“The media has an image of you, and they want to portray that image – so that’s what they are going to portray,” Johnson said. “They paint you a certain way, and that’s the way they want to portray you. I’ve never worried much about it, because the people I know, (they) know me. But Twitter gives you a chance to control your message a little bit.”
Johnson is perceived to be, well, a bit rough around the edges, so it may begin to help if he keeps tweeting that he’s excited/happy about things. Also, this:

The recent embrace of social media is a bit of an about-face for Johnson, who just a year ago said that he didn’t see the point of it. He also banned his own team from using Twitter during the 2012 season.
