Alabama football: Starting LB Trey DePriest breaks foot
A member of Alabama’s top-ranked defense is down, as starting middle linebacker Trey DePriest will miss the rest of spring ball with a broken foot.

DePriest was a first-time starter in 2012, appearing in all 14 of the Crimson Tide’s games. He was second on the squad in tackles, with 59, adding four TFL’s, two pass breakups and two hurries. He had three tackles in the team’s national championship victory over Notre Dame.
DePriest played a middle spot in Alabama's 3-4 defense along with Nico Johnson -- the team's other inside linebacker and a likely mid-round NFL draft pick -- so Alabama's vaunted defense will need to fill in spots. Stepping up will be Reggie Ragland, formerly ranked the top inside linebacker in the nation by Rivals, and redshirt freshman Ryan Anderson, who Nick Saban said will move to the inside after DePriest's injury.
