Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry will miss the rest of the spring with a broken tibia, according to a report from ESPN. Henry, who was rated by most services as the top running back prospect in the 2013 recruiting class, enrolled early in Tuscaloosa, and by all accounts was having a very good spring, and was drawing comparisons to former Alabama star Trent Richardson.
Derrick Henry injury: No. 1 Alabama freshman breaks leg
The top running back recruit from the 2013 class will be out for the rest of spring practice after breaking his leg in a scrimmage.

Fortunately for Alabama, running back is a very deep position for them. T.J. Yeldon is the starter entering the 2013 season, and Jalston Fowler and Dee Hart should be ready to go after missing 2012 with knee injuries. Henry isn't the Tide's only highly regarded freshman back either, as Alvin Kamara, Altee Tenpenny, and Tyren Jones all ended up signing with Alabama back in February.
Henry could be able to play at some point during the 2013 season, but the timetable is still up in the air. Alabama opens their season on Aug. 31 in the Georgia Dome against Virginia Tech.
