Runners who entered the Boston Marathon will have a chance to “cross the finish line” on Saturday at the UMass spring game, the school announced. Runners will be able to run a lap around the field, then cross a finish line at the 50, where they will be presented with a gift from the UMass program.

The UMass football program wanted to do something for the runners from the Boston Marathon, and they’re letting them “cross the finish line” today at their spring game.

The idea is from Minutemen head coach Charlie Molnar, who is a runner himself:
Competing in the Boston Marathon is a lifetime achievement and something to be celebrated,” said Molnar who has run everyday for the past five years. “These runners deserve to finish what they started and we hope we can provide that for them. We want them to have that feeling of coming down the home stretch to the sound of applause and to have their friends and families greet them as they cross the line.”
If you’re in the Amherst area and want to attend, admission is free to the public, and the game is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m.
In other Marathon-related news, Boston College cancelled their spring game, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday afternoon.
