2013 UCLA spring game results: Brett Hundley shines in scrimmage

The record-setting sophomore quarterback was the star of Saturday’s showcase.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Quarterback Brett Hundley was the standout performer at UCLA's spring scrimmage Saturday, which was played before a crowd of 20,000 at the Rose Bowl. Hundley completed 16 of 23 passing attempts for 179 yards and two touchdowns during a 60-play scrimmage to close Saturday's festivities. The Bruins also participated in an assortment of drills prior to the scrimmage.

Devin Fuller caught six passes for 66 yards and a 26-yard score. Darius Bell added three catches for 39 yards, and Paul Perkins recorded a touchdown among his three receptions for 30 yards. While the Bruins did not run the ball extensively, halfback Jordon James did manage five carries for 20 yards and two touchdowns.

Senior linebacker Stan McKay recorded four tackles and intercepted a pass for the Bruins' defense. Safety Brandon Sermons added six tackles, and looks to be a favorite for a starting spot in a rebuilt Bruins defensive secondary. Outside linebacker Aaron Wallace had four tackles and a sack. Senior defensive end Keenan Graham recorded two sacks.

UCLA now breaks for the summer. The Bruins kick off their 2013 season against Nevada on Aug. 31.
