Alabama recruiting promo touts draft picks not at all #BuiltByBama

Alabama is exceptional at getting players into the NFL, but a picture tweeted by a staff member includes a lot of players from other schools.

One of the most common recruiting pitches in college football, or really any college sport with a major professional counterpart, is that school or coach’s ability to get a player into the pros. It makes sense, as that’s what a huge number of prospective college football players are looking to do.

Alabama is the latest program to tout its ability to get players into the NFL, here done by director of player personnel Tyler Siskey via tweet:

It’s a picture of every player that Nick Saban has put into the NFL, but unfortunately for the #BuiltByBama narrative they’re trying to create, a huge number of those players did not attend Alabama. There are players from Toledo, Michigan State, and LSU on there as well, and as our LSU blog, And The Valley Shook, points out, it’s unlikely that some LSU players would be happy to be a part of an Alabama recruiting tool.

The thing is, though, nothing on that poster is inaccurate. Nick Saban coached all of those players when they were in college, but the inclusion of #BuiltByBama is a bit disingenuous. #BuiltBySaban doesn’t really flow off the tongue in the same way, but it would be more accurate.
