Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is gonna be up there amongst Heisman candidates in 2013, but he doesn't want to make too big a deal about it. At least, that's Louisville's story.

Teddy Bridgewater doesn’t want too much of a fuss over his Heisman candidacy, according to Louisville.

It's already been an eventful offseason for the rising junior: he got the key to the city of Louisville, dressed up in some ladies' clothing, and got his braces off. A likeable kid, and his team-first mentality just makes him more likeable, even if it is guaranteed to inspire tons of does-things-the-right-way fawning, especially when contrasted with media whipping boy Johnny Manziel.
Bridgewater will deserve a lot of credit for the success of Louisville's squad in 2013, whether he likes it or not: per Bovada's early, early Heisman odds, the Louisville signal-caller is tied for sixth with 12/1 odds to win the trophy. (Manziel, of course, is the favorite to repeat, with Braxton Miller, Marqise Lee, De'Anthony Thomas, and AJ McCarron in short succession.)
Last year, UofL promoted Bridgewater by sending bubble gum and note pads to FWAA members and Heisman voters.
Bridgewater threw for 3,718 yards with a 68.5 completion percentage, 27 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions. Unless Big East -- errr, uhhh, American Athletic Conference -- defenses improve drastically in the offseason, Bridgewater should once again star with gaudy numbers for the Cardinals. If Bridgewater can help a team that finished last season ranked No. 13 from avoiding slip-ups, like losses late last year against Syracuse and UConn, they’ll also have a gaudy number of wins.
