Tre’ Williams recruiting: 4-star linebacker picking between Auburn, Alabama Tuesday

Tre’ Williams has narrowed his college choices down to the two SEC squads in his home state. Wednesday, the 4-star linebacker from Mobile will reveal whether he’s Roll Tide or War Eagle.

One of Alabama’s best players in the Class of 2014 will pick his side in the Iron Bowl rivalry Wednesday afternoon, as linebacker Tre’ Williams from Mobile (Ala.) St. Paul’s Episcopal will announce his decision between Alabama and Auburn at 4:15 p.m. ET.

Williams, a four-star inside linebacker, is considered the No. 3 prospect in the state per 247’s composite. Of in-state recruits ranked higher, the Crimson Tide have scored the only commit, athlete Bo Scarbrough. But the 6’2, 217-pounder isn’t just one of the best players in the state: he’s also ranked as the No. 3 inside linebacker in the nation and the No. 39 player overall. He’s received offers from 14 schools, with Florida, LSU, Ole Miss and South Carolina amongst nine SEC squads offering, and USC, Florida State and Clemson representing more national schools.

Regardless of which squad he chooses, he’ll join a team whose 2014 class already has talent in the middle of their defense. Nick Saban’s always-stout defense has already landed two four-star inside linebacker commits in the class of 2014 in Zach Whitley and Shaun Hamilton, while the only four-star recruit in Gus Malzahn’s class thus far is an inside linebacker, fellow Mobile product De’Shaun Davis.
