With Georgia’s defense already depleted, the Bulldogs received another dose of bad news on Friday. Freshman safety Paris Bostick will miss the entire 2013 season after a recent toe surgery, per Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald.

Bostick was a consensus three-star recruit out of Tampa in the Class of 2013. Standing 6’1 and weighing in at 217 pounds, he wasn’t expected to lock down a starting role in the Bulldogs’ secondary, but with Georgia returning just four defensive starters from last season, he could have played his way into the rotation. Instead, he’ll redshirt and enter 2013 with four years of eligibility remaining.
Another freshman in Georgia’s secondary, cornerback Reggie Wilkerson, a four-star in the 2013 class, is already out for the year after an offseason knee surgery. Safety Josh Harvey-Clemons, who earned a starting role in the spring, is suspended for Week 1 due to a marijuana-related incident back in May.
With so many new defensive faces earning starts to open the year, Georgia could use a soft opponent to ease into the season. And who do the Bulldogs kick off the new campaign against? Oh, it's the Clemson Tigers, an offense that averaged 41.0 points and 512.7 yards per game in 2012. Well, that won't be easy at all.
