The 2013 Fred Biletnikoff Award watch list was announced Tuesday, highlighted by defending award winner Marqise Lee of Southern Cal. The Biletnikoff Award is given annually to the nation's top collegiate wide receiver by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. A panel of sportswriters, commentators, broadcasters, and former players votes on the award.
College football’s best wide receivers: The 2013 Biletnikoff list
The top wide receiver in college football in 2013 will likely come from this list.
Not only is Lee the sole returning finalist from last year's Biletnikoff vote, but he is one of just four returning semifinalists. Lee is joined on the Biletnikoff watch list by Maryland sophomore Stefon Diggs, Oregon State junior Brandin Cooks, Vanderbilt senior Jordan Matthews, and New Mexico State junior Austin Franklin.
The first Biletnikoff trophy was awarded to Penn State's Bobby Ingram in 1994. Lee is attempting to become the third receiver to win the Biletnikoff twice, following Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree and Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon. Pittsburgh is the only program to have won the Biletnikoff twice with two different players, Antonio Bryant (2000) and Larry Fitzgerald (2003). Other recent recipients have included Notre Dame's Golden Tate, Georgia Tech's Calvin Johnson, Oregon State's Mike Hass, and Michigan's Braylon Edwards.
