The Big Ten and the Detroit Lions have announced they will host a bowl game at Ford Field, the home of the Lions. The game will take the place of the Little Caesar’s Bowl, which will be held for the final time in December. The bowl deal runs for six years, and the name is currently TBA, so for now I’m just going to call it the Replacement Pizza Bowl.
Big Ten, Detroit Lions to host bowl game beginning in 2014
The Pizza Bowl is dead. Long live the Pizza Bowl.

The opposing conference was not named at this time, but ESPN’s Brett McMurphy seems to think it will be the ACC.
With the Little Caesar’s Bowl going by the wayside, another bowl between a major conference and a smaller one is going away. Conferences have been shuffling their bowl lineups for 2014 over the past several months, and a significant number of tie-ins between major and minor conferences have been severed in favor of major conference matchups. No formal opponent has been named yet, but it seems unlikely that the MAC would keep their tie-in from the Little Caesar’s Bowl.
