Oklahoma State, Lache Seastrunk headline preseason Big 12 predictions

The Baylor and TCU stars were named the preseason players of the year by conference media. Here’s the full team breakdown.

Baylor running back Lache Seastrunk and TCU defensive end Devonte Fields were named the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year by Big 12 media, and lead the Preseason All-Big 12 Team. Oklahoma State is picked to win the conference, with Oklahoma next among the six total teams receiving first-place votes.

2013 Big 12 Football Media Preseason Poll

1. Oklahoma State (15) 365
2. Okahoma (8) 355
3. TCU (9) 347
4. Texas (8) 337
5. Baylor (2) 282
6. K-State (1) 240
7. Texas Tech 161
8. West Virginia 126

Seastrunk rushed for just over 1,000 yards on only 131 carries last year, and is mentioned by many as a potential dark horse Heisman candidate. Fields, meanwhile, registered 10 sacks and 18.5 tackles for a loss as a true freshman in 2012, and is a key member of what should be a fearsome Horned Frog defense in 2013. He was the only unanimous selection among the roster. West Virginia running back Charles Sims was named the preseason Newcomer of the Year, after transferring from Houston earlier in July.

Fields' teammate, Casey Pachall, was named to the team despite being away from the team for almost all of 2012.

Here is the Preseason All-Big 12 Team roster:

Offensive Player of the Year: Lache Seastrunk, Baylor, RB

Defensive Player of the Year: Devonte Fields, TCU, DL

Newcomer of the Year: Charles Sims, West Virginia, RB
