Florida’s Antonio Morrison arrested, suspended after barking at police dog

It’s Morrison’s second arrest in just over a month.

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

Update: Florida announces Morrison has been suspended for at least two games.

Florida Gators linebacker Antonio Morrison was arrested Sunday morning for harassing a police animal and resisting an officer without violence, according to booking information collected from the Alachua County jail system.

Morrison was arrested on two charges, one of which was under Florida statute 843.19.4. It states:

Any person who intentionally or knowingly maliciously harasses, teases, interferes with, or attempts to interfere with a police dog, fire dog, SAR dog, or police horse while the animal is in the performance of its duties commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s.775.082 or s. 775.083.

And that appears to fit the description of the incident:

Morrison was previously arrested on June 16 on a misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly punching a bouncer at a nightclub. He received deferred prosecution in the case: fines totaling $250, 12 hours of community service, enrollment in drug/alcohol abuse and anger management classes, and two ride-alongs with University of Florida police.

He had 34 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble for the Gators as a freshman in 2012. He was named to the SEC coaches’ All-Freshmen team.
