Rutgers athletic director Julie Hermann came out as being gay in her official university bio. The information was listed as the last line in her bio, which reads:
Rutgers AD Julie Hermann comes out as gay
She quietly announced it to the world by way of her university bio page.

Hermann and her partner Dr. Leslie Danehy are the proud parents of a seven-year old son, Aidan.
Hermann served as a high ranking-official at Louisville for 15 years before moving to Rutgers, but had never previously included any family information in her university bio. What is now interesting is that during the interview process, Rutgers officials asked pointed questions about the NCAA's new LGBT guidelines to candidates, but only asked Hermann if she was aware of them.
Her arrival at Rutgers was a surprise, as the scandal involving former men's basketball coach Mike Rice quickly claimed the job of then-athletic director Tim Pernetti. She has had to endure issues of her own, though, as she was accused of being verbally and emotionally abusive toward her players when she coached women's volleyball at Tennessee. Hermann has denied any wrongdoing.
