Washington WR Kasen Williams pays fine for citation

The Huskies’ No. 1 receiver appears to have run into some legal trouble.

Otto Greule Jr

Washington wide receiver Kasen Williams paid a $695.50 fine Monday after a misdemeanor citation in Chelan County, Wash., on May 26, per Adam Jude of the Seattle Times.

It's the second arrest for a key member of Washington's receiving corps this offseason, as tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins was cited for DUI on March 9.

Williams was pulled over by Washington State Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or marijuana. After taking a voluntary breath test, he was charged with a misdemeanor at the scene. Williams blew under the legal limit of 0.08 and was cited for operating a vehicle after consuming alcohol as a minor, according to 1090 The Fan’s Steve Sandmeyer. In addition to the fine, the citation comes with two years of probation.

Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian acknowledged the incident in a statement released Tuesday:

“We are aware of an incident involving Kasen Williams in Chelan County on May 26. As a matter of policy, any disciplinary measures taken as a result of this incident will remain internal to the team. Also as a matter of policy, no one at the UW will have any further comment on the matter at this time.”

UW Dawg Pound, SB Nation’s Washington blog, doesn’t think Williams will miss any time on the field this fall due to the citation:

Williams, who is entering his junior season, was the Huskies’ top receiver in 2012, catching 77 passes for 878 yards and six touchdowns. Back during spring practice, UW Dawg Pound’s thecassino wrote that a bigger role for Williams should be a major goal for the Washington offense in 2013.
