WVU coach Dana Holgorsen cited for ‘hazardous driving,’ car accident

The accident apparently occurred during a rainy drive on Friday morning.

West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen was cited for “hazardous driving” Friday morning. The citation came after a three-car accident, according to West Virginia Metro News’ correspondent Hoppy Kercheval.

Holgorsen’s 2012 Jeep Cherokee apparently ran into back of a Jeep Liberty, pushing that into the rear of a Honda Civic. Kercheval reports that Morgantown Police said nobody was hurt, but Holgorsen’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

This isn’t the first time that Holgorsen has made waves on and off the field with the Mountaineers. Holgorsen’s compiled a 17-9 record in two seasons in Morgantown.

West Virginia’s offense averaged 39 points per game in 2012 after racking up 37 points per contest in 2011. Holgorsen has rubbed a few people the wrong way away from the field, including former head coach Bill Stewart, who told a reporter Holgorsen had been involved in several alcohol-related incidents at a casino in 2011.

Mike Casazza, a West Virginia beat writer for the Charleston Daily Mail, relayed a couple of the accident’s details on Twitter. Holgorsen apparently approved of the following note:
