Kansas State enters the 2013 season with a lot of questions. The Wildcats have been one of the better teams in the country over the past two years, but need to replace their offensive and defensive leaders in Collin Klein and Arthur Brown. Bill Snyder and the Wildcats have lost a lot from last year’s team, but does the old coach have something up his sleeve this year? Let’s take a look at their schedule and see how their road looks.

Projections from Football Outsiders’ 2013 college football almanac.
The Wildcats are only returning eight starters from last season, so it’s safe to expect some regression. They have an easy out-of-conference slate, though, so they should be 3-0 entering Big 12 conference play. That’s good for their record, but it won’t do a good job of preparing them for how difficult the Big 12 should be this season.
The Wildcats start conference play with road trips to Texas and Oklahoma State sandwiched around a bye week. Both of those games should be very difficult, and it doesn’t get any easier when they come home to host Baylor the next week.
Kansas State has some winnable games in the middle of the season against West Virginia, Iowa State, and Texas Tech, but they will be challenged in November with back to back home games against TCU and Oklahoma. They end the seasons with what should be an easy game against Kansas.
This season will bring a lot of challenges for the Wildcats, but if Snyder has proven anything in his career, it’s that he can get results when people don’t necessarily expect him to. Getting to a bowl game and building a foundation for the future would be a good goal for the Wildcats.
