Toledo player Bernard Reedy calls out Florida Gators’ depth

All-MAC wide receiver says Florida lacks experience (and maybe effort?) heading into Saturday’s contest.

Rob Carr

Toledo enters Saturday as 23.5-point underdogs on a tough trip to No. 10 Florida, but Rockets receiver Bernard Reedy does not seem to be fazed.

In a press conference leading up to the game, Reedy questioned Florida’s work ethic late in games, via WNWO.

Here’s a transcript of his comments:

“Since I’ve been watching film on them, I see that, you know, late in the game, you know, they like to -- they still don’t go hard as they do in the first and second quarter. So I feel like if we just keep the pressure on them the whole game, we could eventually wear them down. I mean they have depth, but they don’t have a whole lot of experience on their team.”

Toledo starts seven seniors (including Reedy) against Florida’s six. Toledo has 14 upperclassmen starting, including 10 on offense, while Florida has 16.

The MAC is certainly not afraid of Florida, as Bowling Green came to The Swamp last year and gave Florida quite the scare (and us this GIF):

Troll-hard

That GIF, of course, is titled TROLL HARD, which feels apt for Mr. Reedy.

Reedy hails from St. Petersburg and did not receive a scholarship offer from Florida coming out of high school. An all-conference receiver, he had 88 receptions for 1,113 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Florida has not lost to a team currently in the MAC since 1973, when it fell to Miami (Ohio). The Gators have the highest home winning percentage in college football since 1990, with a record of 129-18 at The Swamp.
