AJ McCarron fine despite being spotted in walking boot, FYI

AJ McCarron was spotted wearing a walking boot which may mean something or may mean nothing. Probably nothing.

Update: As expected, McCarron is fine, according to Bruce Feldman.

Defending national champion Alabama opens its season against Virginia Tech in Atlanta on Saturday and there may be some extra intrigue heading into the game as Crimson Tide starting quarterback AJ McCarron was seen wearing a walking boot in the Atlanta airport on Friday.

This comes after McCarron was reportedly spotted wearing a walking boot when he boarded the plane and even when attending classes during the week. McCarron wearing a walking boot is notable because he is the starting quarterback, but in all likelihood it’s merely a precaution.

McCarron dealt with some foot issues during fall camp when he suffered a bruised foot after a teammate stepped on it during a scrimmage. The injury appeared to be minor and didn’t hamper McCarron through the remainder of fall camp. The walking boot could simply be an extra precaution to ensure the injury doesn’t begin bothering him prior to the game.

Injuries have been a major factor in the lead up to Saturday’s game. Virginia Tech will be without several starters against Alabama after a rash of season-ending and other serious injuries in August.
